RObotS hims and hers

I never knew that I liked drawing robots, but they are so fun cause pretty much anything goes.
It has become our Sunday ritual to draw robots during church (I listen best when I'm drawing;), and I have drawn robot EVERYTHING!  Robot elephants, robot dragons, robot butterflies, robot sharks, robot crocodiles, even robot mermaid dragonfly princesses!

So of course I had to participate in this week's spoonflower fabric design challenge which is "ROBOTS".  Because I feel that there is a shortage of girly robot fabric in the world, I entered the pink "robo buddies" design.

If you would like to vote on all the robolicious designs
you can do so HERE.

Snow White and Rose Red Puppets

The latest fabric design challenge at spoonflower is to create a puppet design on a fat quarter. Since I love fairy tales, and I like to maximize my space in my designs, I did all the main characters in the tale "Snow White and Rose Red". It's a lovely tale of enchantment which can be read here. They are designed for small hands, and the bear and the prince are meant to be sewn together for a quick transformation. The other puppets need a coordinating backing. They are hand-painted in gouache, and were so fun to design.
Voting doesn't start till Thursday, but I noticed there are lots of fun puppet designs already visible at spoonflower.

Forest Friends Dress

Here in my new entry in the spoonflower fabric design contest.
Vote HERE. (psst. I'm Star Primm)
The theme is "Children's Clothing", and the assignment was to design a piece of children's apparel with pattern pieces and instructions all on one yard of fabric. I made a little dress that will fit 18 months - 3T, and it features my watercolor illustrations of some tiny forest friends. I made a prototype out of white muslin, and it fits my little Isabelle just perfectly. I am still waiting to receive my printed fabric, so once it arrives I will post photos of the finished dress.

My design made it into the final stage of voting... please come vote for me!
The design is titled tree2, the place for voting is HERE.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love spoonflower? Well I do, where else can you design and print your own fabric in whatever quantity you want and have it in hand in about a week? And now we can buy fabric from other spoonflower members! If you don't have an account, it is quick and painless to set one up. So what are you waiting for?
Here are my designs I received yesterday, I am so happy with them!

Now I better get busy sewing them into something! Maybe after costume season is over.

Harvest time & Vote for my fabric design...please

It seems the cold weather sneaks up on me every autumn. It snuck up on my pumpkins too, most of them didn't have a chance to turn orange. My 9 year old says they will make great
jack-o-witches!

This is the first time I have entered a fabric design in one of spoonflower's contests.
The theme is "numbers", this little owlie tree is what I came up with.
If you like it, please vote for my design here. My design is number 33.
I hope you are all enjoying the change of the seasons, I am so excited for Halloween, candy and COSTUMES!!!

A Jungle of a Baby Nursery

Here it is! The reason I haven't been doing much else lately.
This was made for a custom order, and it is a safari/jungle themed nursery set with appliqued animals, matching stuffed creatures,
and coordinating wall art of course.
Jungle Baby Bedding Set
Okay, I got a bit carried away, but I love how it all turned out.
The blanket is all quilted by hand, and the stuffed giraffe, monkey and elephant are made from my own patterns and were sewn with coordinating fabrics. The bumper has appliqued animals parading all around the crib, and I had to paint some happy little watercolor illustrations for a finishing touch. The fabrics I used are all various Amy Butler prints with a little Heather Bailey as well. All the animals were taken from my sketch book, and frankly I think they are so happy to finally be free range! One lucky baby gets to sleep in this fun and colorful set.

Now I plan to spend a few days catching up on my housework, then back to creating more messes and fun things!

Fabric on the brain!

I have been working on a big project the past month, and it is just a few seams away from being finished. Whew! Pictures of this fabulous creation will be posted very soon.

I am so excited to announce that I've been invited to join Spoonflower. Spoonflower is a site that offers designers the chance to get their own designs printed on fabric. I have so many ideas, I just don't know what to do first. I promise you will be the first to see what I come up with. Well, I have to get back to those seams, I just thought I'd drop a note to say I'm still living.
